We Can't Stop Here!

I have a silly and ridiculous and awful photo idea for our getaway car, but I'll need a pair of gold aviators, a white bucket hat, and some fake bats.

I know it's not the same car at all but how many people actually know the cars in the movie were a Chevy and a Cadillac??  Besides me, of course...

Hot Pepper Plant Wedding Favors

THAT IS SO COOL!

But would it be worth the effort?

Next Big Worry

Cake.  I am morally against spending twice as much per slice as I would for TWO homemade 8 serving cakes.

THIS IS RIDICULOUS.

Why isn't google being more helpful?  It keeps finding me the same stupid $5/6.50+ per slice foo-foo bakeries.

&^%$!

I found Planet Bonnie and Moonlight Bakery, and am waiting to make sure the venue has no issues with them.

Good way to use up the otherwise unwanted foil origami paper.

Set it up next to a globe and some travel related bits and bobs for the travel themed table.

What I've Been Doing

Potentially placemats.  Or not.  I don't know if it's worth the $60 for 3 of these books.  They are not on sale.

Fun doodads for my bouquet^^  better watch the after Christmas sales for fun silver bouquet add-ons.

My practice boutonnieres.  I actually kinda like them^^

Decorations to Consider:

  • Martin Wedding D├ęcor List
    Items we already HAVE
    Items we need to PURCHASE
Items we need to MAKE (which probably involves some purchase)

    • Sign on the road that says Martin Wedding
    • Sign in front of HH that says "Welcome to the Martin Wedding"
    • "Ceremony <------"
    • "Restrooms ------>"  or wherever they are now
    • "Bridal Suite:  Do Not Enter  (unless you have truffles)"
    • A thing to hang from the middle of the gazebo (2 foot across, pomander of some type?  DIY unless Toy Joy has something cool and cheap)  a big silver spray-painted wire and rubber ball atom comes to mind...
    • Things to hang from the eaves of the gazebo (oFlowers and beads on fishing wire?  my colored glass hanging votives?  both?)
    • Two lanterns on either side of the "door" of the gazebo, where Fr Paul will be standing - probably the teal ones on chains
    • Table with photos of our dearly departed family members
    • Folding Screen with bride and groom photos, next to table with basket of programs and scattered lit oCubes of various sizes?  Maaaaybe some single blooms in bud vases
    • Something to denote reserved front rows  (have dark silver wide outdoor-safe ribbon, can be layered with narrower teal/navy/purple ribbon?)  Or use the silver ribbon as a band and seal with a large colored or metallic sticker with a monogram?
    • Aisle decor: teal glass lanterns (on shepherd hooks OR on the ground) with lit oCube topped with pink, orange, or yellow oLotus  *have everything but the tealights and shepherd hooks already)
    • Programs:  short, simple, print in black on "parchment" paper we already have, embellish with paper cornering tool
    • Cocktail Tables:  comes with white tablecloth and navy blue tied around the base.  Move the aisle lanterns to the tables and bar, add nerf guns.  Maybe add a round place-mat or patterned scrapbook paper squares to the middle.  Done.
    • Food/Beverage service tables:  white tablecloth, wrapping paper runners, and scattered lit oCubes of various sizes?  Maaaaybe some single blooms in bud vases?
    • Guestbook, Gift/favor table, cake table:  white tablecloth, use wrapping paper as runner, add stuff like so:
      • guestbook: the guestbook (whjatever it ends up being), the friend&family flowers in the teal beehive vase, and black manzanilla branches with glued on oCherry Blossoms stuck into the two rectangular teal vases, and some scattered lit oCubes of various sizes
      • gift/favor:  card box (DIY from paper mache box from GardenRidge cheap after christmas!), basket with favors, and .......?  Some small/long floral thing?
      • cake:  the cake, some scattered lit oCubes of various sizes
    • Ten dining tables:  circular. seats 8, I think.  Each with a white tablecloth and navy blue runner.  All will have individually wrapped buttermints scattered.  Maybe print the menu in a frame on each table?
      1. Beer glass Table #1
      2. Beer glass Table #2
      3. World of Warcraft Table
      4. Final Fantasy Table
      5. Photography Table
      6. Cooking Table
      7. Gardening/Outdoors Table
      8. ... Table
      9. ... Table
      10. ... Table
    • We shall be seen off with bubbles.
      • VIPs will get bubble guns depending on how many we can find
      • everyone else will get standard wedding bubbles, preferable in test tubes but more likely just the regular ones

    Am I missing anything?

I have found closure.

SXSW dates hadn't been released yet at the time that Kinnon and I chose our date last year (same day we were engaged really).  2012 SXSW dates were announced in Feb or March 2011 and we had already started booking stuff at that point.  It is happening a week earlier than people were expecting, as well.

Yes, it's still bothering me.  But now I've confirmed that we couldn't have don't anything about it and am finally ready to let it go.   :P

Very unfortunate timing all around.

Update

  • Need a cake ASAP
  • Should have a DJ soon (full circle media)
  • Need to send HH my "vision" with a list of vendors so we can start pinning things down
  • Need to meet with the officiant (the priest at the chapel of the state school where my mom volunteers)
  • Flowers.  Uggh.  DO NOT WANT a florist or their inflated costs.  Means I need to figure out boutonnierres and corsages ASAP.  I can definitely do my own bouquet.
  • Pin down table decor (buy LED tealights, think about manzanilla branches with origami flowers, etc)
  • Price and purchase individually wrapped buttermints
  • lots of websites suggest providing cards with cab service phone numbers but I have never seen that at a wedding before....  I'm not opposed to the idea but ...?
  • Project Wedding says I need to start making the invitations  (Kristal halp! I have some ideas finally though)
  • Make my DIY project list (origami, invitations, boutonnieres, tablescapes,
  • ...apparently need to make a video of me folding an envelope  XD  and post it on the wedblog
  • My Ladies' dresses  (I'm going to be really flexible about shoes and we'll figure out jewelry later)
  • Buy three purple/navy blue glass lanterns.  Missed the op to buy the ones I saw at Pier 1 a while back.  Sad!  Need to check gardenridge, Ross, and Marshalls
  • Veil, accessories
  • Anything I had originally assigned Kinnon to do.  For reasons I cannot divulge but are good reasons!
  • more?  probably.  EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Favors collected so far:
Pretty sure I've bought one of each type available in Austin and will have to get the rest through amazon.com. I have one other set but some of them I'm going to toss because they say things about being overly drunk and I don't want anyone getting stuck with those.  I DO also want to find some young kid and non drinker friendly items for favors.  Just not sure what yet...  any ideas?

And one possibility of a cake topper (those are our iPod nanos from way back in the day) and the other bits and bobs are for dollar dance clothespins...?  I've never seen a "dollar dance" but Kinnon claims his family always does them.  So...  ok?  I'm not cool with people pinning money directly to my dress so Kinnon suggested sashes.  So we need to pick up some nice wide ribbon and do something pretty to it.

I don't know of any family wedding traditions on my side but I know Kinnon's family does the dollar dance thing and The Grand March.

Old: supposed to be a family jewel but we don't really have any, so I'll probably string the James Avery heart Kinnon gave me a few years ago into the bouquet wrapping
New: jewelry (looking for sterling silver/white gold with white/gray pearls and a little sparkle)
Borrowed:  supposed to be from an older, happily married woman, probably hand tatted lace from oma's mother wrapped around the bouquet
Blue: bright blue rhinestone "I"  and "Do" on the heels of my shoes

(Czech) Someone breaks a plate (ceramic or stoneware!), then the bride and groom clean it up together with broom and dustpan and keep a piece. http://www.prague.net/blog/article/70/traditions-on-czech-weddings  apparently whoever gets the broom will "wear the pants" so some couples have a real scuffle over this!

For reasons I won't go into I want to incorporate some kind of fertility charm.  -_-  In fact, perhaps I want a whole (inconspicuous) fertility symbol collection ..........................  frogs, rabbits, snakes, the primitive Venus, a "horn" and platter.....  mmkay I have an idea for this.  And it'll take care of gift table decor, too.
